On June 10th 2008 we were very fortunate to meet 5 coureageous guys travelling from the West Coast across Canada to the East Coast. They stopped here for an evening BBQ, fellowship and a campover and breakfast th following morning. There trek to the east is in support of Muscular Distrophy. They began their journey May 13/08 from the Pacific Ocean on the west side of Vancouver Island and plan to touch the Atlantic Ocean at St. John's in early August.
Our family and friends enjoyed visiting and the evening passed to quickly, and the next thing they were back on the road in the morning. The guys had been faced with not great weather during their trip through Saskatchewan and were hopeful Manitoba would be a bit kinder to them. Their trip from the Manitoba boarder to our place which was about 67 miles was reasonably warm but riding directly into easterly winds making their first day in our Province a little tough, and having them arrive somewhat behind schedule. Wednesday June 11th started out somewhat cloudy and a strong wind again from the east. As the day progressed it got colder, then rain and very strong winds. Not a great welcome to Manitoba. Even though the weather has not been nice I certainly hope that they find the people they meet warmer and friendlier than the weather. We wish them well on their venture and again we are all so pleased to have met such inspiring young guys.
